I;ve heard good reports about this...
arch is that way...
and what other distro gives you a 1980's video game built in!
hibernation is usual a kernel thing..... try a newer(older)(different) kernel

Just to say, I've been running Arch for a couple of weeks now and I'm really impressed. Very quick, very few problems. The only bugbear is that hibernation doesn't "just" work, it takes some work. But, aside from that, it's great. Big improvement on Debian, and pacman is so quick! (even if I find the choice of syntax slightly non-intuitive, but mabye that's just me)
