I've done this before, but for the life on me I can't remember how to do it.

things to try

have a look at the $DISPLAY variable , I believe you can select screen and the subscreen.

your window manager dictates how, and where windows should be displayed.

what window  manager are you using?

find out, and take a look at it config files...

this does work , as I've done it...but my config..is...well..out to lunch with thief.

Cheers,
Lee

I'm currently playing around with a stripped (hardcore style) ubuntu install, with openbox, pypanel, and a couple of core apps like thunar.  When I have all the apps I want running on startup, however when started, they all start on the same desktop. how do i specify which desktop i would want them to start on?

for example, I want alsaplayer to start on desktop 4.
