Michael Tiemann, President of the OSI (Open Source Initiative) and
Vice-President of Red Hat has produced a white paper entitled " How Open
Source Software Can Save the ICT Industry $1 Trillion Dollars per Year
<http://opensource.org/files/OSS-2010.pdf>"
which compares and contrasts open source and proprietary software. It was
initially 3 pages but has expanded to 5 pages, I think it could be expanded
further and turned into a proper published refereed paper .
