[dundee] Why is Everythin on Linux Such a Ball Ache?

Ah ha, so it looks like the official Ubuntu docs give you a collection of
*some* of the variables you *might* have to set in order to get this thing
working, how helpful. Luckily there's a great community like you guys to
fill in the blanks. Thanks for your help guys, I'll try your advice and let
you know how I get on.
