NEoN Digital Arts Festival are offering you the opportunity to attend free workshops; teaching skills and offering advice to those who wish to pursue a career within the Digital Sector.

Workshops are free and open to the unemployed (all ages), young people (16+) and those in training programmes.

If you have an interest in Digital Technologies, Web Design, Animation/Illustration or Online Journalism, these workshops will provide the perfect platform to learn from professionals working within these fields, seek career advice and
discover opportunities within an ever expanding sector.

Workshops are aimed at those who have some or no qualifications in this area and are looking for an introduction/starting point. We will also provide further education course information.

Workshop information: You will attend one morning session and one afternoon session then all participants will come together for the final session.

Saturday 13th November

Morning Workshops (select one) :

Character Design
10.30am-12.30pm

Participants will learn the process of character development from concept to final character artwork. Creating a character is so much more than a nice drawing, the NEoN Character Design workshop will look at
what makes a strong successful character and show simple methods that
will allow you to implement those techniques in your own work and help
you define what area of the creative industries you want to work in!

Web Design
10.30am-12.30pm

Participants in this short workshop will learn about the fundamental building blocks required for making web pages. The roles that HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Graphics play in modern best practice web design will be
explained giving a grounding in what lies beneath the surface of the
websites we use everyday.

Afternoon Sessions (select one) :

Animation Secrets and Techniques
1pm-3pm

Learn how to create animation and bring your ideas to life. Using simple equipment you will learn how the larger animation studios work using time honoured tips, tricks and techniques to create TV classic
cartoons such as Top Cat and Yogi Bear.

Digital Media and Journalism
1pm-3pm

When you are trying to engage with a busy, demanding audience, how
you tell a story can be every bit as important as what the story is
about. In this session, it's not just the words you use, but how you
mould them together. For journalists, the opening paragraph is where
'the game is won or lost' and the same should apply to you. And it's simple when you know how. Delegates
are invited to bring examples of stories they have written or would like
to write, for honest but friendly feedback and advice

All participants attend:

Online CV's and Professional Profiles
3.15pm-4.30pm

websites and organisations who offer opportunities within the Digital
Sector.
