[dundee] What went on at the the SRC

ok so,

*The meeting on Thursday will go ahead.*

I attended a Student Rep Council Meeting. Where an amendment to the
constitution was made stating that every society has to have a 3:1 student
to non-student ratio, this passed the vote 45 - 9 (i was 1 of 9).

now everyone has paid their dues, I am yet to submit them. Enforcing the
above this academic year will be very difficult.

Our meetings will not be cancelled while access to a venue is maintained. We
are fine for the time being.*

The logic behind this being implemented is to ensure Student Association
resources is primarily allocated towards students.

I will try to up our student membership and am looking for a poster that
will advertise our meetings. that will be displayed on screens around the
university and the union itself.

I am fighting this as it will affect us in the long-run and I truly believe
that the society is a benefit to the university and it's students.

I have a few avenues that need exploring.

- In response to the Student Association's logic I have put forward the
proposal that our grant by the Student Association will only be spent
on tangible assets that remain property of the Student Association. (any
equipment purchased with society funds remains the Associations property
anyway).

- We will contact the computing school of the university as a LUG looking
for a venue with the support of a few lecturers. This will be set in motion
very shortly.

In the mean time if anyone is willing to help me find a venue outside the
university it would be greatly appreciated. I can't contact them all on my
own and battle the Student Association.
