Red Hat's life cycle for their distributions used to be 7 years, in 2010
they extended this to 7 years standard support + 3 years extended life
cycle support (bug & security fixes only). They have now decided to give 10
years of standard support for Red Hat 5 & Red Hat 6. This is good news for
users of free Red Hat source builds such as Scientific Linux & CentOS which
will follow suit. This means that CentOS 5 & CentOS 6 will have full update
support until 31/03/2017 & 30/11/2010 respectively.
