Some of you would have noticed the monthly mailing list reminder was not
sent to you yesterday. The main lug.org.uk servers in Debian Xen Vm's were
migrated to new hosts and hardware in early June to take advantage of free
hosting being offered to the lug.org.uk, due to previous hosting having to
be paid out of the pockets of some of the lug.org.uk admins, these vm's
were then upgrade to Debian Squeeze on the 25th June. The upgrading had
messed with mailman's perms on some files reverting them to root and
annulling group list permissions thus preventing the reminders being sent
out at 0600hrs on the 1st of the month. With all the recent writing of SPF
records for domains, re-writing of spam rules, updating of admin mediawiki
etc. nobody had noticed the perms change until yesterday. These list group
permissions have now been reinstated so that membership reminders will sent
out as normal in August.
