[dundee] Tech Meetup in Dundee

It pains me to admit that I was impressed with the Surface Pro. Would I buy
one - maybe, but only to liberate it! It's windows and my religion forbids
me.

My employer has given me a windows phone and I find certain aspects of it
frustrating.

I have never found the perfect platform whether it is windows, mac or linux.
But I gave up on windows a long time ago I will never forgive them for
ie6.

Glad you had fun! Did Kenny manage to convert you to Windows 8 and Surface
Pro? I have since discovered it was Ryan Cormack that had attended one of
your meetings previously.

The scheme we're trying to kickstart in Dundee is called Code Club,
everything you need to know can be found at http://www.codeclub.org.uk/

My employer (brightsolid) in conjunction with the DCA will be funding a
trial over the next school term to be hosted at the DCA on I think Thursday
evenings, I'll confirm that and let you guys know.

The lessons are given using an application called Scratch, which if you've
not heard of is a programming language developed by a group at MIT aimed
specifically at educating children in programming. http://scratch.mit.edu

For older kids there's potential to use YoYo's GameMaker and there's been
talk of Python but the pilot is Code Club curriculum and age group 9-11

If anyone is interested in getting involved let me know and I'll pass on
your details :)

Cheers,
-Brian
