[Nelug] news software suggestions

I'm looking for some newsreading software, console or X that can cope
with multiple servers (running totally different groups) and by
default display a list of all headers in the current group. I've got
used to slrn over the years, and have recently been using pan (though
its a bit of a resource hog).  

What suggestions do people have?  I'm quite willing to set up my own
nntp server if thats what it would take.
