[Nelug] built in SD card reader woes

Is the card reader USB? I recall that I just kept enabling USBish bits 
in the kernel and running tail -f /var/log/syslog while plugging and 
unplugging the card reader until something showed up and gave me the 
device names. Sorry to ask the obvious but is USB enabled in the BIOS? 
That's me pretty much out of ideas!
