So I tried that, and failed -- the order got cancelled.

I've also tried looking for the same mouse model elsewhere, but have
only found links to the one reseller on Amazon, or to second-hand
ones.

Has anyone got any other suggestions?  It must be possible to get a
three-button mouse from somewhere.
