[Durham] Help getting sound working

I've just been clearing some of the pending comments on the website, etc.

Found this message:

Sorry to trouble you – this may be a bit of a cheek, but I wonder if you
could put me in touch with anyone who could help me with getting sound
to work on a new laptop. I use Debian Jessie & I can’t get a peep out of
it whatever I try (:
I live in Darlington, but could travel anywhere fairly local.
I’d be most grateful if you could oblige!
