Yes; I do.

I follow quite a few other LUGs without being subscribed to them as a
member, and find the ability to post to the group occasionally
nevertheless, quite an asset.

Restricting this group to members only would, I feel, restrict its scope
unnecessarily.  Surely if spam becomes a problem, that is for the
hosting company to deal with?  (spamassassin?)
