Mmhhm.

Maybe it's time to pass this snippet on from the Bristol LUG:
(author = Alex Butcher)

As I find myself repeatedly saying on the linux-annoyances list:

a) If you bought a proper boxed distro from a vendor who was plugging it as
a "cheap alternative to Windows", go bug them as well as us unpaid volunteer
folks. If they're selling their distros in that way, and they aren't working
for you, they're falling short of their goal and they need to be told of
this so that they can improve.

b) Alternatively, if you didn't pay anyone anything for your distro, then
your options are a) read - LOTS, b) engage with the community and help
improve things, c) sit back and wait for the next release of the distro you
use to do things better or d) move to Windows or MacOS X.
Linux (and Free/OSS software in general) is principally developed by
developers *for* developers. If it happens to be useful to anyone else, that's
a nice bonus, but "people who just want a working system that's easy to
install by themselves and do X, Y and Z on" aren't really the target audience.
That's who Microsoft and Apple target.

A bon entendeur, salut.
