Cheers steve, you're a star I can finally use the system menu and all my 
applications again!

That's the last time I change ANYTHING in the lib directory without backing up 
the file first.

I should have ADSL in the next few days, so I guess I'll just have to stumble 
along blindly on my own. Well I'm sure it won't be too hard... after all 
mandrake does have a wizard for setting up Internet access. :-)
