Agreed.

Downloaded Tim Hall's suggested Debian-based music distro over the
weekend... that won't detect my soundcard, yet Fedora/Red Hat have for
generations and generations of distro!

A sound/music-orientated distro that doesn't recognise soundcards?? Well...
