PIV CPU Fans are generally quite robust, taking the fan off and
brushing out the heatsink is a quick fix, a can of compressed air is
even better, (we have one in the service centre just for this purpose)

Smoking near computers is always bad for them,  the sticky gunk of
cigarette tar and dust is disgusting, ideal for work experience lads
to clean up :-)

Generally with PIVs the only need to buy an expensive heatsink/fan is
to keep the noise down

oviously i sell PIV fans in the Service centre, but also i have second
hand fans and heatsinks if peoples are gunked up,  these would cost a
donation to a charity pot
