[Glastonbury] Inspired by Mambo

Hi Guys!
After attending the LUGOG meeting last month I was inspired to give Mambo a
run and setup a site at www.speleophilippines.com. I was a complete n00b but
have found the whole experience kinda interesting and frustrating at the
same time. I've learnt quite a few lessons along the way. The main one being
don't run the latest code just because you think it will be better than the
last. I'm sure that most of you will be aware of this type of issue from the
outset.
With Mambo there are a host of third party components, modules and mambots
which are closely tied to the version you're using. I installed Mambo 4.5.2
(as it was the latest) and have since run into issues with third party
support on the new code base.
Anyway it's a learning curve and I'm coasting on the bottom. There is a
bunch of stuff that I'm yet to address such as security and availability
but, heck, it's been fun!
The site is aimed at spreading knowledge of caving in the Philippines. I've
spent several months in the dark corners of the country and am working with
the Philippine Speleological Society to capture knowledge. Shame that most
of them don't have access to the net - yet.
Thanks for the inspiration!
