the linux user group of glastonbury began because at st dunstan's we had
a small thin-client network and as a linux user i wanted to give
something back. i arranged with the school that i could set up such a
group at the school for free as long as i was prepared to be present as
a representative from the school which i was more than happy to do. the
school themsleves have had very little to do with it. most importantly
it has been the caretaker team that has helped us out the most over
meetings etc:
however I agree that this now needs to be changed.
the community side of the school run by the leisure centre for evening
(mainly sports) clubs are the prople to help out here.
we will probably have to hire a room for use through them because of
insurance. (ultimately the school is run by the LEA of somerset).
there will need to be a named person(s) responisble for the use of the
room and some way of registering attendance I would have thought.
i will speak to them and see what they say.
in august why can't we hire the town hall and have an "install fest" and
put on music in the evening to raise awareness? money i guess.
anyway i''l get back to this list by saturday.
