[Gllug] 2.4.7 kernel arguing with X

Hi,

I wonder if anyone has come across this, and maybe has a way round it.

I've just upgraded my kernel from 2.4.2 to 2.4.7, and now, as soon as X
starts, the keyboard and mouse cease functioning entirely. If I boot
into console mode, it's fine, but after starting X, either via startx or
xdm, there's no more response at all. I'm using XFree version 4.0.2, and
a quick search shows nothing likely... The only kernel options I changed
were to do with USB stuff, so I don't think I've miscompiled anything...
I don't see any visible error messages when I start X.

Any ideas???
