It was part of a generla discussion on the use of software engineering
techniques to kernel development.
Ted is quite hot on that.
My recollection is hazy, bt he said something along the lines of
that less rigour was applied in the past
(thought he did comment that a great deal of progress was made in
the first five years by a very few people!).
What he said was that the SCSI and block device layer are sorely
in need of a rewrite.
