[Gllug] Network freeze.

I have heard reports of similar problems occuring from a guy in the
Nottingham LUG. He tells me that under certain conditions (with large
files) the ppp code seems to hicup nastily (possibly due to blocking
occuring elsewhere) and die. Unfortunately I have heard little more
about this recently, cannot confirm it and suspeciously doubt your
problem is this weird - but I thought I would mention it just in case.

Which kernel series are you running? I *think* this guy had 2.4.x
