[Gllug] Simple multimedia applications

My children ( ages 4 and 2 ) still boot Windows 98 because they play their
various CD-ROM games that are only available on this platform. These games
are not complex 3D things but simple learn to read letters and numbers type
things.

I am thinking of writing some games for them to run on Linux possibly
written on pygame (http://www.pygame.org) so that it should be portable.
Has anyone any experiences or recommendations?
