Andrew's recommendation is of course useful but why not also have a few
fstab lines in to mount the standard company file servers in reasonable
places on boot/login[0]? (if more than one person uses his machine).
At work, I have a couple of samba servers handling domain logins for W2K
(maybe XP eventually...groan) and also exporting /home and others using
NFS because all the client machines dual boot with Debian also (they use
amd/nis/ext3/other randomly cool stuff) and of course have fewer
support issues than their windows friends.
The company uses Star Office for a lot of its work although I'm looking in
to Open Office at the moment - mail is moving over to internal IMAP as
soon as I get some free time this week to do the switch over.
