If your after bits for an old acorn, it might be worth talking to a
nearby school. A lot of acorns were used in schools in the 80s, and I
suspect there are plenty of schools who still have them gathering dust
in a cupboard somewhere, and have moved on to PCs. You might well
find they'd sell you a few spares.
By the way, if you get linux working, it might well be worth showing
them. Schools aren't known for having lots of spare cash, and if you
could show them that their old acorns would run Linux, you might be
able to persuade them to use linux :-).
I have to say I've never had any success there though - there is a
prevalent feeling that "teaching IT" should mean "teaching Microsoft
Office", which is pretty hard to break down...
