Jim,
Would you please forward/fax a copy of that paperwork to me. (Mail me
offlist for a fax num/address)
I'm getting quite few messages in my inbox (as my role as postmaster)
and I'm trying to nail down where the literature is coming from; as any
corporate person may be aware, there are many many departments that send
out this stuff...
Oh, and 3com.co.uk is one of my boxes - NB: I'm not responsible for the
content, just the hardware & O/S =:0)
For the record: at home I use the older wireless card (non-retractable
antenna) - works an absolute treat for me, once you've got the tools from
Jean (something) from HP to configure in the ESSID.
I did have to munge the modules.conf to get the card recognised, and I
simply use the hermes/orinocco driver, then use the wireless tool
"iwconfig" (IIRC) to set the ESSID.
I haven't yet got the VPN/encryption working, as this involves auth
against a M$ PPTP server. Someone (sorry, I forget the name-could even
have been you!) provided me with all the tools/source for create a munged
2.2.x kernel, but I haven't tried it yet (2.4.9 is nice and stable for
me... ;-))
I will do eventually, as I can then wander around the campus with my
lappy!
TIA,
Lee
