Does this driver work better than the Alcatel driver for 2.4?
Does this require a 2.4 kernel? Because I don't think that Mandrake < 8
comes with 2.4.x, does it?

This covers getting software, patching kernels, and suchlike, and I've
never had a problem getting things to work even while really quite
hungover. :-)

As for letting your entire network see the connection, there's two ways
to handle this:

1) Get BT to give you a bunch of IP addresses for the purpose - they'll
also provide you with an ethernet based router, so all the above doesn't
apply anymore. This costs.

2) Probably go against the T&C's, and use NAT/Masquerading on Linux 2.4
- this is different to the way it was done in 2.2, but there's HOWTOs
available, which include the only line you actually *need*. Personally,
I'd recommend putting a fairly severe firewall on anything connected to
ADSL - my own ADSL line gets probed with alarming regularity.

There are other HOWTOs covering what you want to do, mind, but Rusty
wrote much of ipchains and iptables, so these tend to be good, but
technical - with the exception of the Networking Concepts HOWTO, which
is aimed at covering all the stuff Rusty can't be bothered to explain
anywhere else.
