I hope you forgot the smiley off the end of that sentence.

It's possible to write obscure code in any language - believe
me I've seen it.

Me - I choose the best tool for the job.
I happened to be working on an intranet phone book application.
I found that Perl already had all the modules available for
reading/writing data from an LDAP server.
I looked around for a solution for building the pages, with 
separating the layout from the dyna,ix content, so our two web
developers could easily maintain the pages, and change the colours,
layout, fonts etc.
HTML::Template fitted the bill.
