I have a different setup that gives similar results, details on
linuxbrit.co.uk/mutt and /procmail, and also my muttrc on the /downloads
page.

Mailing lists are added dynamically, I don't need to do anything to set
up a new one, and they are seperated from regular mail.

My muttrc dynamically sets up the "subscribe" settings to the lists I
have when I start it, so mutt knows about the lists automatically.

I also have automated mailing list rotation/gzipping which is available
at /downloads/mail_rotate_makefile, it's just a makefile you cron
monthly which cycles some symlinks and gzips old folders. It works
pretty well, I have stuff like:

~/mail/inbox <- normal mail
~/mail/lists/gllug <- from here (there are many others)
~/mail/lists/monthly/gllug-200105.gz
~/mail/lists/monthly/gllug-200106.gz
~/mail/lists/monthly/gllug-200107

Works kinda okay, but may not be to your taste.

Tom.
