I tihnk the hardest part of learning perl from a C stance is that perl is so
non-ridged, there is more than one way to do it. And $foo can be anything
you want. The hardest part of perl isnt learning the rules in learning the
lack or rules.

Perl is a great language, it has its uses as a language for solving
problems FAST.
C is a great language becuase well i'm sure it is.
Java can be a good language if its used well because you don't need to
think about what system your program is running on.
All languages have a good use, (This includes intercal which is a great
way to get yourself commited) they all have a niche that they fill wether
its a fast binary, flexible typing. etc. Perl is good for a lot of things
so don't dis it. It makes my life a lot easier, the though of having to use
combinations of C, PHP, Bash, sed, awk etc makes me cringe when i know I can
do it in one perl script.
