Er. That's blatently untrue. Windows was late to pick up chap.

Besides which that's a nonsensical statement - who was windows talking
to using chap before the ISPs started using it?

Unixs have has support for chap for as long as (if not longer) than
windows.

The ISPs implemented chap for their own security and that of their
customers.
