[Gllug] starting X

Thanks for the replies from Alex Hudson, Mike Brodbelt, Nix, and Xander D
Harkness. 


After logging in as root I moved all the files from the 
/tmp directory with
cd /
cd tmp
mv  * /home/mark


This managed to reduce the used figure 254989
to 254325, but it is still 100% usage.
However, when I did rmdir tmp
I got the message 'tmp' directory not empty.
Then I did ls -a
which gave . .. .X11-unix
I moved this file out and was then able to delete the tmp
directory with rmdir.
Then I remade the tmp directory with mkdir as an empty directory.

The usage is still 100% on /
so I guess I'll have to find some other files to delete.

Logging in as root, if I type:- 
cd /<enter>
ls <enter>
 I get :-
bin   dev   home  lost+found  mnt  proc  sbin   usr
boot  etc   lib      misc           opt   root   tmp    var
