Thanks John, this made the PCMCIA card "network stable", although
from a deja hunt i'm not alone in the lack of detection when the
machine boots up. (RH 7.1 + 2.4.5), the kernel does not detect
the card so needs a cardctl eject;cardctl insert to wake it up.
