Tag them.  Have you encountered tagging?  Press t to tag an item, then 
press ; followed by a command to act on all tagged items.  So to attach a 
selection of files in a directory, browse to the directory then press t 
against the files you want (a * will appear against each) then press ; 
followed by return to attach them all.

You know you can execute shell commands by typing : then ! then the 
command?
