I would certainly think it reasonable to point out the following article to some of the movers and shakers:

Any disgruntled employee - even a cleaner who knows a bit about IT and overhears the right (wrong?) conversation could do a lot of damage unless it is sorted out.

Again, it would certainly be worth thinking about how much culpability you would have if someone like FAST did come. If you have some reponsibility for the servers, it could be messy...

How about giving them a letter saying that you've become aware of the situation, asking what is being done to ensure that everything is legally licenced and proposing Linux be investigated as a way of achieving significant cost savings on both licencing and ongoing support?
