twm used to work fine for me on DECstations running Ultrix, and
old Sun 4 boxen, so it should be more than fast enough for any PC
you're likely to have. Equally, fvwm used to work fine for me when I
had a 486DX2/66, so I doubt you'd have problems with it now. fvwm2
isn't quite as slim, but compared to many of the alternatives is
still pretty lightweight, yet still has pretty much all the features
you could want. I still use it today, having found the currently
fashionable window managers all lacking...
