[Gllug] Where has the modem gone

To find out if it is working 

Go to (On the KDE Menu) -Internet Select -Internet Dialler. This opens up
the Kppp Configuration tool. Select that you will do it manually then use
the features in here to change between devices and query the modem. I
remember someone saying that you should not use /dev/modem so thanks for
clarifying why. I think it should be either /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyS1
depending on what serial port it is connected to but I'm sure someone will
correct me if my thought process is a little astray in this.
