I think this is a little harsh - perhaps the question could be
re-phrased as "what do people recommend for opening password-protected
Word & Excel files". There's not a right anwser to the question, what
you're really after is people's personal experience in how different
methods compare. You could just download something you find on the net
but it could be a trojan horse or something. Plus you might not realise
that your Linux wordprocessor already does it automatically.

There's so much stuff on the web that sometimes you can't see the wood
for the trees and just need a brief overview.

Maybe it's off-topic, but Linux users may need to open Word files just
as much as Windows users.
