Haven't seen it; it makes me think of the MODULE_LICENSE setup, though. 
Modules are being marked with their license, and stopped from linking to
modules with an incompatible license, causing lots of errors like:

  /lib/modules/2.4.12/kernel/drivers/block/loop.o: Note: modules without
  a GPL compatible license cannot use GPLONLY_ symbols
  /lib/modules/2.4.11/kernel/drivers/block/loop.o: unresolved symbol
  invalidate_bdev

This isn't a particularly meaningful reply to your post; it's far more
likely to be Muppetry, but I feel like a vague discussion of all this
kernel tainting and self-aware licensing stuff.  I'm not sure whether it
annoys me or not yet.
