[Gllug] AOL and AIM

I got a message this morning, when I connected to AIM through jabber:

<AOLInstantMessenger> You have been disconnected from the AOL Instant
Message Service (SM) for accessing the AOL network using unauthorized
software.  You can download a FREE, fully featured, and authorized
client, here http://www.aol.com/aim/download2.html.

Funny thing is, on http://aim.aol.com/openim/ they claim: 
      Over the past two years, we have participated in industry
      discussions through the IETF about how to achieve the goal of
      interoperability among instant messaging networks.

Anyone had similar experiences with GAIM et al or just feel like
moaning about another crappy EvilEmpire(TM) company?
