[Gllug] Matrox G550 drivers

Since the subject has come up here a couple of times recently, I went
looking for info regarding G550 drivers for XFree86.  I found the following:

"There are XFree86 4.0.2, 4.0.3, and 4.1.0 drivers included on the G550 CD.
Updated versions of these drivers will also soon be available on the Matrox
website."

from someone with a matrox.com email address, no less...

And there aren't any new drivers on their site yet.

That leaves me with three questions:
Framebuffer console support?
How free (Open source, etc.) is the driver?
How cheaply can I get a card? :-)
