Heh, it was increadibly difficult to read my offsite mail over the
course of last year. I certainly did not wish to use the University SMTP
servers for fear that they'd lynch me over anything I sent through them.

Then there are the pathetic "allegations" they like to make against me.
Last year they made a number of "allegations" against me which ranged
from "saying nasty things" about them to making t-shirts which
advertised the issues with their student network...oh and for my work on
tunneling software which is apparently against JaNET rules or something.

They even criticised me for publicly citing a post made by a member of
their staff which criticised me personally in a University newsgroup -
on one occasion I was sat in a room with 5 people I didn't know and was
asked "to follow the rules" however they were unable to confirm that I
had broken any such rules at that point nor would they listen to
anything I had to say on the issue. No, I'm not a cracker, hacker or
whatever term you care to use - I just speak when I'm not happy and it
seems that some people do not like what paying customers have to say
about their service.

Last Semester, a number of lecturers spoke out against the treatment I
was getting from certain parties and one wrote to the University Senate
on my behalf. Suffice it to say, I hate the Computing Services more than
many other things and they will be one factor in my possible decision to
leave. I decided to seek legal advice against them at one point - all
this is not a healthy situation to be in so I just recommend against
living in Hall if you're going to have to deal with this kind of crap.

Shall I go in to the death threats I had from students last year and the
police investigations or am I boring you now with this OT boringness?

Heh :) I suppose I did spend too much time bitching about it last year.

P.S. Apparently a bunch of students (not me atm) are now looking towards
suing over their student network service provision.
