Hi All,
We have a customer whos server can't send to AOL because AOL have tested
their server and found to be an open relay. Poprelayd was installed
last November and it seems to be working, you can only send through the
server after popping a pop account. However you do seem to be able to
send if you format the destination email address:
rcpt to: CloseYourOpenRelay%aol.com@<hostname or IP of server>
this gets accepted for delivery and the maillogs show that it the mailer
does attempt to deliver to AOL. It is strange because it only seems to
work for aol.com, doing:
rcpt to: CloseYourOpenRelay%<some other hostname>@<hostname or IP of server>
gives a relaying denied message. Does anyone have any idea as to why
this is happening and what can be done to fix it? They are running
sendmail 8.11.6
Will.
