[Gllug] CD help anyone?

I had a working CD on my (Suse Professional 7.3) machine but then decided to 
add a CD-RW/DVD unit by the same maker (LG).  I added the new unit as a slave 
to the existing one - both are connected to IDE2 and with the jumpers 
correctly set - but now I cannot get the machine to recognise them.  Both 
units play audio CDs via their own headphone jacks, but not via the system.  
i have tried configuration with Yast 1, but this seems to go nowhere.  I'd be 
grateful for any leads.
