Apart from Bree, Rivendell, Moria was reasonably close apart from that
bloody scene with all the orcs and goblins, the end sequence was wrong
wrong wrong etc etc

17 years between the party and leaving for Crickhollow, approx one year
from leaving hobbitton to returning (actually it's one year exactly
between passing Weathertop on the way out and returning again iirc).

While the portrayal of Gandalf was pretty good he came across as too
'weak' in comparison with my reading of the books and the R4 adaptation.

Oh and as for that bloody "Wizard's Battle" scene... 

Did I mention that the kids are almost at the point of not watching the
film if I'm there just in case I pick more holes in it? :)
