So we should embark on a random vigilante cracking spree? I think not.

Briefly, things we can find;

Things findable with find(1) and/or grep(1).
Things on Google (I hope).
Things ending up in lost+found after a fsck.
Things on old backup tapes.
Things hidden in old versions in version control systems.
Obscure braindead things in /etc.
Things there are Debian packages of.

Lost children, sadly, do not fall into any of these categories. Life
is not MovieOS.
