That's something I'm interested in.

Here, we use a locally written program/protocol called 'wgsh' to 
so this (pronounced wash). We're actively looking for a replacement.

Other things you might look at are the C3 stuff that the ORNL/Oscar
folks have. http://www.csm.ornl.gov/torc/C3/
cexec will run a command on each node in a cluster
Basically, these are just wrappers round ssh (or rsh if you are daring).

IBM have a utility called xcat  http://x-cat.org/
which is open source. I wonder though if it works with anything other
than IBM clusters - as it refers specifically to X-series hardware.
