[Gllug] ppp/USB ADSL modem woes

Hi,

Right, I seem to be able to get the drivers loaded and the management
module running for the speedtouch (I think), but now I am having 
problems getting ppp to work.  I
have followed the HOWTO here:

(the page seems not to be there today).  I get the following error in
/var/log/messages when trying to start pppd as root:

Feb 11 23:04:38 localhost pppd[1967]: pppd 2.4.1 started by will, uid 0
Feb 11 23:04:38 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module
tty-ldisc-3
Feb 11 23:04:38 localhost pppd[1967]: Couldn't set tty to PPP
discipline: Invalid argument
Feb 11 23:04:38 localhost pppd[1967]: Exit.

I have checked and there is no file: tty-ldisc-3 on my system.  #lsmod
lists only the speedtouch module.  I have made the correct kernel
alterations mentioned in the howto.  Any ideas?
