To avoid using all those floppies, you can also copy the base and driver
tarballs to a partition on the computer you are installing via some other
means (e.g. via network using the old distro/OS already on said computer).
I've found it easy to make a partition for this purpose with the intention
of reformatting it and enabling it as swap after the install, since swap
isn't needed during the install.
